Connect your chatbot to Telegram

Connecting your chatbot to Telegram is a quick process that involves talking to Telegram's 'BotFather'. 

The 'BotFather' as a chatbot run by Telegram that oversees deploying any chatbots on Telegram. 

You have to talk to the BotFather to generate an authentication token before you can connect your chatbot to Telegram. 

Step 1: Generate your Auth Token (talking to the BotFather)

  1. Go to https://t.me/botfather . Make sure you open this discussion inside your mobile or desktop Telegram app, not in a browser. Alternatively, you can look for thebotfather inside the Telegram search.

  2. Click Start.

  3. Read the instructions to understand all the available bot commands.

  4. Send /newbot.

  5. Give your new bot a name.

  6. Give your new bot a nickname.

  7. Copy the token generated.

Your auth token will look something like: 110201543:AAHdqTcvCH1vGWJxfSeofSAs0K5PALDsaw.

Step 2: Connect your chatbot to Telegram 

Back inside your chatbot platform, go Engage → Channels.

In the tile of channels, find Telegram and click Options.

Paste your new Telegram bot’s auth token. 

Click Save.

Step 3: Activate your Telegram channel

Once your integration is done, go back to Engage → Channels. 

In the tile of messaging channels, find Telegram and click Activate.
